Job Description
Manages the planning, design and construction of facility infrastructure improvement projects including Institutional General Plant Projects (IGPP), General Plant Projects (GPP), and/or Decontamination & Decommissioning Projects with values ranging from $500,000 to $34 million. Additionally, supports in the planning, design, and execution of large, capital line item (DOE O413.3b) projects above $34 million. Interacts mainly with Operations Managers and principal investigators, but may also interact with Department of Energy (DOE) Federal Project Directors.
Position Requirements
- Skill in preparing the design specifications, estimating the cost, and managing the installation and/or construction of components and systems.
- Knowledge of personnel and project management principles and tools.
- Skill and demonstrated expertise in management and leadership techniques and in technical direction and supervision.
- Oral and written communication skills and the ability to works with all level of internal and external contacts and to build excellent working relationships.
- Skill in negotiation and the ability to achieve designated project goals.
- Knowledge of engineering principles, practices, codes and standards, as applied to the delivery of projects.
- Skill in work related use of computers, for example Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Procore, preferred
- Professional registration in project management, i.e., PMP, engineering, or architecture is highly desirable.
- Ability to model Argonne’s core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork.
Entrance to this level will require demonstrated and or documented previous experience or expertise in project management of a commensurate scope. The incumbent will further be expected to continue their professional development through participation in program reviews and professional certification programs, and through membership in professional organizations and attendance at project management conferences.

- PT4 Level: Bachelor’s and 6+ years of experience or equivalent
- PT5 Level: Bachelor’s and 10+ years of experience or equivalent
