Job Description

Spvr, Outpatient Facility Quality and Education

 

Position Highlights:

  • Supervision over day to day operations including personnel, schedule and time management.
  • Audits work of direct reports, oversees audit process management and development regarding resource use, measure implementation and delivery of measure information for MIPS Measures.
  • Completes process development, oversight and improvement of training and educational programs, and development for outpatient facility coding curriculum.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • The ideal candidate will be CPC o CPMA certified.
  • The ideal candidate will have project management exp; creating resource and process documentation, directing project from start to finish.

Responsibilities:

  • Coaches, interviews, limited training, establishes work schedules and evaluates performance of Outpatient Facility Education Team and Statistical Coder(s).
  • Assist Coding Educators and Statistical Abstraction coder(s) with questions regarding coding, audits, processes, reporting, measure changes and interdepartmental issues.
  • Assists Coding Educators in reviewing patient records for appropriate codes and process choices,  Provides specific education based on review findings and trends.  Performs data quality reviews on medical records in order to validate appropriate codes abstraction.  Responsible for continuously evaluating the quality of clinical documentation to identify incomplete or inconsistent documentation which could impact the code selection and resulting payment.
  • Validate coding updates are implemented: Distributes, reviews and/or audits coding Educators regarding coding changes, Coding Clinics, CPT Assist, and other coding guidance.
  • Conduct huddle meetings, trainings, coaching, counseling and documentation of these events. Assists in conducting department meetings, and communicates changes in policies, procedures, and related tasks.
  • Utilize time management to balance both MIPS monthly and annual deadlines as well as ensuring Education Team meets monthly audit timelines.
  • Alert manager of Coding regarding system issues or other issues that prevent coding audits, MIPS audits, or correction of edits.
  • Review, monitor and approve all Education Team and MIPS Team time in Kronos system
  • Maintain Continue Education Units ("CEUs"):  For credentials/certifications and education to stay current with all coding and skills to accurately abstract and code medical encounters and records.
  • Review Educator audits for process and coding accuracy on schedule determined with coding manager. Validate timeliness and completeness of audit information.

Credentials and Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree required in Health Information Management or related health fields
    • * In lieu of an Associates degree and/or Bachelor degree, two (2) additional years experience auditing coding/documentation with certification (total of 4) may be considered.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) certification required.
  • Minimum of five (5) year health care coding experience with  ICD-10-CM, CPT,  and HCPCS  classification systems
  • Minimum two (2) years supervisory or leadership experience. (Can correspond to time spent coding and/or auditing) for multiple medical specialties as well as experience auditing coded cases/documentation (in addition to coding experience
  • One (1) year experience working with PQRS, PQRI, HEDIS, AUC, MIPS/MACRA/APM or other CMS Quality program.
