The Huh laboratory at Harvard Medical School seeks a highly motivated individual to support research in immunology and neurobiology and assist with general lab organization. This individual will be responsible for lab administrative tasks (ordering, inventory, meeting vendors, updating IACUC and COMS protocols, organizing lab meetings and journal clubs) and lab safety activities. She/he will perform and assist with a wide range of highly sophisticated laboratory techniques in close collaboration with fellows and students. These include immunologic techniques (immune cell isolation and culture, assays of immune cell (T cell) function, cytokine ELISA assays, multiparameter flow cytometry), molecular biology procedures (PCR, RNA, and/or DNA preparation from tissues). Additionally, She/he will assist with animal colony management (setting up breeders, weaning pups, genotyping progeny). She/he will analyze and summarize data, organize it into lab notebooks, and report experimental results bi-weekly. This individual may independently troubleshoot and optimize experimental procedures.
College background or equivalent work experience, preferably in a related discipline
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Master’s degree or several years of hands-on laboratory experience described in the job description section are preferred. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and a high level of initiative and enthusiasm both in the success of research projects and lab organizational tasks. Ability to maintain careful records of experiments; meticulous work habits and a strong work ethic; possess strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills; demonstrated multi-tasking and trouble-shooting skills; can work independently as well as part of a team.
This is a one-year term role with possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position.
Offer contingent upon successful completion of pre-placement medical evaluation.
