Are you an enthusiastic, organised, innovative and motivated individual, with an interest in research in extended reality in medical education? Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background in digital education/medical education research? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?
You will work on projects funded by Health Education England within the School of Medicine led by Dr Jane Kirby. The role is to work with Dr Bronwen Swinnerton on the research associated with evaluating these projects. In particular, you will work on projects related to Extended Reality in Medical Education:
• Virtual primary care (VPC) project, and
• Virtual clinical experience (VCE) project.
The research will focus on a number of key areas including medical ethics and the impact of virtual consultations and placements on patients, as well as an evaluation of perceptions of the key stakeholders and impact on the learning experience and outcomes for students. Each project will be evaluated using a mixed methods approach consisting of interviews, focus groups, surveys and observations and other appropriate data collection methods, with a range of stakeholders including patients and patient groups, practitioners, academics, students and educational technologists. The ability to work alone or as part of a team is essential, as are strong organisational skills.
You will have previously conducted research studies involving multiple stakeholders and organisations. Ideally, this previous experience would have been gained in an education or healthcare context.
