Title of Position Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer

Employee Class Exempt Full-time
a. Assist with the design, implementation, and documentation of the data acquisition and control systems for research projects.
b. Write software as needed to facilitate human machine interfaces.
c. Provide guidance to students as needed on instrumentation and procedures.
Support the design, implementation, and documentation of the processes for collecting, organizing and analyzing experimental data.
Design and support hardware/software interfaces for data collection instruments.
Perform design analysis and simulation with appropriate analysis software like KiCAD and/or SPICE.
Work with a team to implement electrical design standards and procedures.
Draft and review procedure documents such as work instructions, operating procedures, maintenance and repair manuals.
Participate in assembly and lab testing of products.
Participate in electronic system and software designs for molten salt equipment, and follow through with sourcing, building, testing, and maintenance of systems.
Professional Development Requirements
Experience with CAD software, Autodesk products preferred.
Experience with an engineering data management software, Autodesk Vault preferred.
Experience with common control communication protocols and layers such as TCP/IP, RS232, RS485, and Modbus.
Circuit design and construction experience. KiCAD and SPICE-based electronic circuit simulation software experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience (industry or university).
Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes, delays, or unexpected events.
Responsible decision-making skills.
Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
Ability to work with others in collaborative team settings.
Willingness to contribute to an orderly and productive workspace.
Strong time management and organization skills.
Requires minimum supervision and shows initiative to operate within design time and constraints.

Ability to climb ladders if needed.
