Postdoctoral Associate – Molecular Genetics of Addiction – Kumar lab

A joint postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Vivek Kumar at The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) in Bar Harbor, Maine.

We seek a postdoctoral fellow to study the neural circuitry underlying reward and motivation in the context of addiction in the mammalian brain. The position is ideally suited for an individual with a strong background in molecular biology and behavior who is also interested in learning mouse genetics and genomics to address important neurobiological questions. Dr. Kumar and his colleagues at JAX have significant expertise in the genetics of complex traits, and ample opportunities will be provided for independent training in cutting edge genomics, including genome editing and single cell genomics. Required Skills:

Ability to plan, execute and analyze an independent research project as well as exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications:

M.D. or Ph.D. in biological or related life sciences is required.
Strong training background in mouse behavior, addiction phenotyping and genetics, interest in learning physiology and circuit work is preferred.
Exceptional communication skills;
Self-motivated and career-oriented individual preferred;
Experience working with mouse models
