Job Description

This position will be responsible for the overall gathering of information for summer learning opportunities for school-age students, developing communication structures for housing and disseminating information to schools/districts, families and community organizations.

This position will work Spring and Summer semesters of 2022 and 2023.  They will start on the 1st day of Spring Semester and end last day of Summer semester.

The Indiana Department of Education awarded a $2.9 million Student Learning Recovery grant to Ball State University’s Teachers College in May 2021. Partners include College of Sciences and Humanities (CSH) faculty along with community partners, YWCA, the Whitely Community Council and the Ross Community Center. 

The grant funds a multi-pronged, culturally responsive, and collaborative approach for learning recovery in response to COVID-19. Interventions include summer learning opportunities, professional learning for teachers to build capacity for literacy, math, and game-based learning instruction, individual tutoring, and community engagement opportunities. Culturally responsive practices and data-based decision making are embedded throughout each aspect of the project. The project will serve students in Muncie Community Schools, the Indiana Academy, Burris Laboratory School, and Inspire Academy. The Camp Information Coordinator will work with schools and community partners to develop an information system for parents to access in order to make decisions about summer camp opportunities available in the community. 

Job Function:

Minimum Education:

Associates degree from an accredited institution or equivalent.

Minimum Experience:

Experience with website creation & design.
Experience collaborating on project design & implementation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates with the pre-planning and prep work regarding summer academic camp including but not limited to: website development to coordinate and advertise various academic camps for area.
  • Coordinates and facilitates open community meetings for camp applications in community.
  • Assists with identifying local academic summer programming offered to students in identified schools/districts.
  • Manage and update the informational website.
  • Coordinate and/or participate in summer camp information sessions.
  • Assists  project coordinators in data collection as necessary.
  • Maintains a current and accurate record of website analytics.
  • Liaises with Camp Administrators to provide accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Responds to all forms of communication in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
