Job DescriptionThe Femtosecond Laser Assisted Biophotonics Laboratory at the University of Texas at Austin seeks a postdoctoral researcher to join its interdisciplinary team, starting immediately. Interested candidates will join a team of researchers working to advance endoscopic nonlinear imaging devices for clinical applications specifically for cancer diagnosis. The NIH-funded project involves design and assembly of new endoscopic probes, development of new laser beam scanning strategies, optical signal collection systems, and in-house software that handles signal acquisition and image construction, and integration with a custom-made ultrafast laser system for dual color imaging. We also use machine learning algorithms for denoising and classification of images. Successful candidates for this position will have a strong background in optical instrumentation and be well-versed in laser-tissue interactions and endoscopic system design.
• Graduate degree in electrical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering, or physics.
• Hands-on laboratory experience, particularly with optical components and optical laboratory equipment (linear/non-linear microscopes, optical fibers, PMTs etc.)
• Proficiency with optical and mechanical modeling software (such as ZEMAX, SOLIDWORKS).
• Proficiency with programming for data acquisition and analysis.
• English fluency and good writing and communication skills.
