The Chiu Lab is looking for a Research Assistant to join the lab to conduct cutting-edge research in neuroimmunology. We are seeking a highly motivated individual for a full-time job in our laboratory. Prior laboratory experience is preferred, as well as good organizational skills and an eagerness to learn. It is increasingly clear that inflammation is a major driver of pathology in the brain during neurodegeneration. The work will entail detailed analysis of immune changes in mouse models of neurodegeneration such as for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis/Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) or Parkinson’s Disease. The research assistant will working closely with a team of postdoctoral fellows and graduate students in the lab. The research assistant will also participate in lab management duties, including animal colony management, ordering of supplies and lab administration duties for the lab.
College background and at least 1 year of research experience (relevant research in a university laboratory counts toward experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills
B.S. in Biology or Biochemistry or college background or equivalent work experience, preferably in a related discipline. Preference may be given to individuals with previous background in animal work, neuroscience or immunology.
This is a one-year term position from date of hire with possibility of extension, contingent on work performance and continued funding to support the position.
Offer contingent on successful completion of the pre-placement medical evaluation for working with animals.
