Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Year-Round R&D Graduate Student Intern to join our dynamic team and support research at the intersection of data science, design, experiments, and materials modeling. You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements: + Earned bachelor's degree + Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program + Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 + Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer + U.S. citizenship
+ Experience in developing and applying machine learning solutions for design, data analysis, or materials simulation + Have familiarity with deep learning libraries such as pyTorch or Tensorflow + Have experience using high-performance computing systems + Have a record of successful research as demonstrated by peer-reviewed journal article(s) or presentation at scientific conference + Working toward a Ph.D. in material science, physics, applied math, mechanical engineering, or related field + Have experience with Python, Matlab or similar + Have experience with optimization, machine learning, or data science + Be enthusiastic about collaborating with a team, but driven as a self-starter
Department 1881 – Nanostructure Physics – is one of two departments at Sandia that are a part of The Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (CINT). CINT is a Department of Energy/Office of Science Nanoscale Science Research Center operating as a national user facility devoted to establishing the scientific principles that govern the design, performance, and integration of nanoscale materials.
