About the Role:
We are looking for an innovative Scientist with significant expertise in microscopy and image analysis to join our Molecular Robotics team. Reporting to the Technology Translation Director and working closely with Faculty Members, Prof. William Shih and Prof. Wesley Wong, you will contribute to the development of new approaches that will leverage high resolution, high-throughput force spectroscopy with reconfigurable DNA nanodevices in order to enable single-macromolecule identification and structure determination. What you'll do:
Independently conduct and design experiments that will lead to the development of new approaches to leverage high resolution, high throughput force spectroscopy with reconfigurable DNA nanodevices in order to enable single-macromolecule identification and structure determination
Independently troubleshoot complex scientific issues and coach others in problem solving as a part of new technology development
Identify internal and external resources that can support technology innovation and development
Organize, interpret and present data in internal and external meetings
Contribute to grants, internal reports, patent application, Institute publications and Institute presentations
Mentor junior staff and technicians; direct junior staff towards project milestones
Collaborate with Institute staff, faculty, and postdoctoral fellows on technology innovation within the Molecular Robotics focus area
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others
What you'll need:
Advanced degree in a natural science or engineering field required.
A minimum of 6 years of related experience required. A PhD may count towards years of experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
PhD in a natural science or engineering field preferred.
Full-time post-graduate industrial experience with a focus on product development is preferred. Proficiency with microscopy and image analysis; optical design, construction and engineering; bioconjugation and surface chemistry, programming and data analysis
Experience with single-molecule fluorescence and/or mechanics is a plus.
Strong organizational and communication skills for assisting and collaborating with multidisciplinary groups of technology innovators and engineers, as well as biologists and clinicians, in a dynamic team environment.
Excellent writing skills and strong commitment to mentoring students, postdoctoral fellows, and clinicians.
This position will be based on our campus in Boston, MA and will require on-campus presence. Subject to business needs, the Wyss Institute generally supports flexible work arrangements.
