Job Description


The section of Gastroenterology & Hepatology is looking to hire a Research Technician I to provide technical assistance to support ongoing research with Dr. Bingning Dong's laboratory. The research program is highly collaborative and integrative, using cutting-edge experimental approaches involving mouse models, cell culture system, primary cell and organoid cultures and ex vivo models combined with multiple-omics and bioinformatics analysis. We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized, technically-skilled Research Technician who will be responsible for helping to manage the laboratory and to perform experiments. 

Job Duties

  • Participates in exciting research projects studying the role of nuclear receptor in obesity, metabolic syndrome and cancer using genetic, physiological, cellular and molecular biology techniques including:
    • Animal studies/genotyping/tissue isolation/behavior.
    • Cell culture, treatment and cell collection.
    • Bench Work: 
      • Prepares lab reagents.
      • Protein and RNA studies (Western blotting, Immuno-precipitation, immunohistochemistry, RNA isolation).
      • Biochemical assays including serum/hepatic lipids and bile acids.
      • Plasmid construction and transformation.
  • Helps the PI, graduate student and post-docs in research and manages the lab.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biological/ medicine sciences.
