Florida A&M University Science and Technology department is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Computer Support Analyst vacancy.
Operates and maintains of computing infrastructure; Explores, tests, and implements new technology; Delivers user services – accounts, troubleshooting, data management, applications; Develops procedures for user complaints and service requests; Identifies required technology sources, propose implementation strategies; and knowledge of modern computing architectures – cloud, mobile, high-performance computing.
Provides technical support for departmental local area network consisting of MS Windows workstations, and Sun Solaris, VMware, and Windows servers; Maintains interoperability of network services; Applies functional and security patches to installed software; Maintains a clean, safe, and functioning laboratory environment for students and faculty; Responds to student service requests, including reports of malfunctioning equipment, software, or network access; Maintains records of requests and their resolution; Develops and maintains documentation for using available hardware and software; Uses appropriate formats -- printed, web pages, links to external resources, videos, etc.; Responds in a timely manner to faculty requests for equipment, software, or special set-ups to support teaching and research; and performs other duties as required.
A high school diploma and six years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Working knowledge of computer hardware, firmware, operating systems, and applications used in the CIS LAN: MS Windows Server, Sun Solaris, MS Office Suite;
Skill at installing, configuring, and supporting software applications on a network server;
Ability to install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot network servers, including DNS and Apache or equivalent web servers;
Working knowledge of cloud service architectures and virtual machine technology; and
Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and via multimedia such as websites, and videos.
This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.
