Position Summary

The Precision Medicine Project Manager is a critical role for successful strategic expansion of commercialization effort under the Precision Medicine department.  This individual will assist the Program Manager, clinical and research investigators, and Director/Deputy Director of Precision Medicine in developing, coordinating, and facilitating activities of various projects ranging from data review research studies, and prospective interventional and non-interventional clinical trials. 

The position will be the primary liaison between sponsors, internal investigators, and execution team, accountable for co-developing of studies, administering budget and contract, overseeing the operation, and tracking performance and timelines of projects.  The project manager should have substantial amount of experience in sponsored projects in a healthcare research setting, and good understanding of such institution’s information systems such as Electronic Medical Record, Clinical Trial Management, and Electronic Data Capture platforms.  Additionally, the incumbent should have strong communication and organizational skills, be detail oriented, and enjoy a highly collaborative working relationship that encourages sharing of best practices among studies and the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provides scientific and operational input during development phase of Precision Medicine sponsored projects, working closely with sponsors and investigators. 
  • Coordinates meeting, and facilitates frequent communication between the Program Manager, investigators, statisticians, coordinators, data managers, programmers, and sponsors so that all parties are aware of current project status, issues, contingencies, and milestones.
  • Supervises the work of CRAs, CRCs, and other study team on assigned projects. Develops and conducts training for staff and coordinators.
  • Proven teambuilding skills and ability to foster partnerships across multidisciplinary teams, ensures transparency and facilitate communications.
  • Oversees daily operations of studies, makes project assignments, monitors workloads and allocates resources to meet project requirements and timeline. Frequently reassesses project scope to ensure projects are carried out according to established plan and budget.
  • Provides direction and leadership and serves as resource to faculty and staff on all projects. Meets regularly to review project activities, prepares summary information on program progress, timeline updates and risk assessment for periodic presentations to oversight committees.  Ensures clear actions and decisions are documented, communicated and committed to, enabling timeline achievement.
  • Represents City of Hope at external meetings and conferences, excellent presentation skill is a must.  
  • Responsible for escalating appropriately and in a timely manner while identifying mitigation strategies to rectify issue(s). Communicate clear and timely deadlines, meeting outcomes (captured in minutes shared with all parties involved), issues (delays, shortcomings, disputes, etc.), and any information that impacts the project and its accomplishment.
  • Maintains current and accurate project documentation; notifies director, investigators, and stakeholders of pertinent changes.
  • Attends meetings and participates on committees as required. Organizes site visits, workshops, and symposia.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to maintain certification and/or keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Ensures work environment is organized and functions efficiently.
  • Manage staffing needs as required to ensure daily operations

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in biomedical sciences, computational sciences or related scientific discipline
  • Two or more years of experience in a healthcare research setting
  • Experience in managing competing priorities

Preferred education experience and skills:

  • Oncology research, Health Information Systems, or related health field
