Position Description
Rider University’s Bursar Office seeks an Accounting Specialist. Under the direction of the Bursar, this position will service the university students and families on all aspects of student accounts receivables. This position should have a strong understanding of accounting principles, cashiering functions, and federal and state financial aid.
The Accounting Specialist will operate independently and prioritize own workload; work as a team on projects; be proactive in identifying, following-thru, and resolving various accounting issues; participate in special projects, as required; and may delegate work to others.
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required with 4-6 years of related work experience preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Comprehensive knowledge of standard accounting processes, procedures, and bookkeeping
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Computer proficiency and a working knowledge of standard office equipment.
- Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to operate independently, prioritize and organize own work schedule, multi-task, and meet established deadlines.
- Ability to delegate work responsibly to others, monitor the work of others, and provide ongoing guidance and leadership to others.
