Job Description

Summary

Temporary position lasting approximately 3 months.  Due to the short-term duration of this position, it is not eligible for benefits.

 

The Department of Urology, Special Procedures Lab is looking for a highly motivated person for the front desk to receive specimens, check in and schedule patients appointments. This position will also provide administrative support to management, faculty, and clinic staff as needed.

Job Duties

  • Schedules and manages all patient appointments for both internal and external physician referrals to the laboratory. Responsible for checking patients in and out, times of service collections.
  • Communicates effectively with management, physicians, clinical staff, and patients regarding status of results, any other concern for the laboratory.
  • Responds and assists management with any front desk laboratory related issues. 
  • Provides and explains laboratory educational material and consents to patients.
  • Monitors and manages all incoming faxes for the laboratory.
  • Rooms patients for specimen collection.
  • Answers all incoming calls to the laboratory, provides information to patients or takes detailed messages and conveys them to the appropriate party.
  • Provides varied, job-related administrative support to laboratory team.
  • Receives patient specimen samples and delivers them to designated lab location for resulting from the lab technicians.
  • Assists arranging all transfers of sperm samples for the laboratory.
  • Assists with the monitoring and billing of sperm storage.
  • Assists with the management and maintenance of all front desk logs for the laboratory.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Epic EMR experience.
