Summary

The Manager, Business Operations position has effort in both Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) and Neurosurgery with most of the time spent supporting PMR. This position contributes to the strategic direction of PMR's business operations by recommending  and implementing changes and process improvements to ensure that current and long-term business goals are met.  The Manager, Business Operations manages department contracts and organizes and oversees special projects and/or programs.

 

Neurosurgery and PMR have faculty in the Baylor Medicine McNair location.  Both departments also have a large education program.  The department of neurosurgery has a very robust research section that continues to grow.  Both departments have clinical faculty at other locations such as, Harris Health, TIRR, TCH and the VA.

Job Duties

  • Oversees the day-to-day operation of the PMR Department.
  • Develops staffing plans and productivity guidelines according to budget and department needs.
  • Provides strategic guidance and support in areas of academic leadership, strategic planning, project management and processes improvement.  
  • Assists in developing and administering budgets in the Department of PMR.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving financial actions for SRM, Concur and SAP.
  • Manages all Human Resources activity in the Department of PMR in the administrative, clinical and education mission areas.
  • Assists with Human Resource activity in the Department of Neurosurgery for the clinical mission area.
  • Formulates faculty and staff policies and procedures for the department.
  • Interprets, adapts, and communicates policies/procedures established at a higher manager level to department staff (time off policy, usage of corporate and p-cards, travel reimbursement, etc.).
  • Responsible for management of contracts; assist in negotiating, timely execution, timely renewals.
  • Formulates policy and procedures for the department, such as faculty and staff time and attendance, Qgenda and Concur.
  • Develops a faculty tracking system for effort and cost.
  • Analyzes productivity and financials related to individual Baylor Medicine faculty to improve business and drive business actions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree. 
  • Four years of relevant experience. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in academic medicine.
  • Experience with Qgenda, Concur, and Cube reporting.
  • Project management skills.
