Job Description

Summary

The Center for Cell and Gene Therapy (CAGT) seeks an experienced researcher to assist CAGT Investigators in the development and translation of novel research strategies into the clinic.  This includes  evaluating the effects of gene modifications on virus-specific T-cells and CAR T-cells that will eventually be used for the treatment of patient with virus-associated diseases and maligancies. Th individual will also evaluate blood and biopsy samples from patients on clinical studies to evaluate their in vivo persistence and efficacy.

Job Duties

  • Culture of  primary T-cells  and virus-specific T-cells 
  • Immunoassays to evaluate antigen-specific functions of T-cells
  • Analysis of T-cells using TCR sequencing and single cell RNA seq and flow cytometry
  • Gene modification of T-cells to improve their anti-tumor efficacy
  • Extensive tissue culture
  • Some experiments with mice
  • Working in an interactive team
  • Attending seminars and presenting work in lab meetings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in a biomedical field.  Understanding of immunology, clinical samples or virology would be a benefit. Experience in cell culture is desirable.  Must be self-driven and motivated and be able to work independently. Must have good interpersonal skills and work well in a team.
  • This position requires attention to detail, good communication skills and a responsible attitude
  • Handling of patient samples is required.
  • Training new staff and students on specific assays
  • May occasionally have to work on weekends or after hours for patient samples
  • Must be flexible as unexpected needs may arise with patients
  • This position requires physical dexterity and reasonable strength.  Involves working with human blood samples.
