The Mathematics and Computer Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory seeks a well prepared candidate to fulfill a Postdoctoral Appointee position. This Postdoctoral Appointee will be working on the Exastar project, which is held in our MCS division.
The Exastar project in the Mathematics and Computer Science Division is developing a Multiphysics community software Flash-X that can be used for simulation of astrophysical and other phenomenon. Several new capabilities are being added to the code that need combined domain and mathematics expertise.
The Postdoctoral Appointee will take on the responsibility of interacting with domain scientists and needed and provide the necessary math expertise in adding capabilities. You will also learn to code to utilize Flash-X’s performance portability layer. An ideal candidate would have experience using or contributing to FLASH or Flash-X.
Required skills and qualifications:
A recent or soon-to-be-completed PhD (typically completed within the last 0-3 years) in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline. Experience in using and Multiphysics multi-component software. Experience in interdisciplinary research involving computer scientists/mathematicians and discipline scientists.
