Job Description

Position Highlights:

The Manager of Volunteer Services will manage the daily operations of the Department of Volunteer Services, to include but not limited to: recruiting, interviewing, screening, placing, training, scheduling, recognizing and providing ongoing coaching and counseling of volunteers, developing new services to

meet the needs of the organization and maintaining a close working relationship with all Cancer Center departments. The person in this position should be highly relational, skilled in project management and event planning, possess excellent communication skills and be a proven team leader.

The high volume of volunteer applicants, as well as, active and inactive volunteers require strong organizational skills and facility with Microsoft Office suite software and Volgistics software. The high volume of administrative processes within Volunteer Services requires profound organizational and time management skills in addition to artful delegation skills to manage workload volume through the

Volunteer Services Coordinator(s) and other volunteers assigned to the administrative and clerical functions of the department.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have  

  • Knowledge of current Florida labor law as it relates to volunteer management
  • Strong public speaking, writing and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate a wide variety of  people; intuitive, empathic communicator who can quickly build rapport, trust, and credibility.
  • Successful with outlining, managing and performing in multi-tasking environment.
  • Work creatively with limited resources.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Possess strong business acumen, exhibit strong motivational skills, possess a high degree of customer  focus, understand and lead change management, exhibit high level of problem-solving and effective decision making.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, excellent decision making, and customer satisfaction required.
  • Interpersonal skills to provide effective leadership to team members and volunteers
  • Analytical abilities necessary to assure day-to-day operations and strategic planning for future services.
  • Demonstrated skills and aptitude for positive volunteer relations, conflict resolution, problem-solving,  staff development and time management.

 

Credentials and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required in Business, HR, Marketing, Healthcare or relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive volunteer management or coordination experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years leadership experience as supervisor, team/project lead, manager or above  is required (may be inclusive of the overall experience).
  •  Preferred Education - Master's Degree HR, Business, Healthcare Admin or relevant field
  •  Healthcare experience preferred
