This position performs professional accounting functions for Bursar Services which requires a thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. You will assure proper recording and documentation of financial transactions, analyze, interpret and present financial data, and prepare reports. The position is responsible for data gathering and analysis using Excel spreadsheets as well as communicating with team members within Bursar Services and across campus to reconcile any outages. This positions responsibilities include completing various reconciliations, running reports and analyzing data, and preparing journal vouchers to correct any outages. You will also be responsible for posting adjusting and closing entries as well as working with our loans team to resolve problems with the financials of our loans programs. This position also contributes to preparing quarterly financial statements for the Lew Wentz Foundation loan programs. This includes posting adjusting and closing entries and working with external auditors by offering the supporting documentation requested. Lastly, this position will serve as an approver in our University financial system. So, you will review and approve vouchers paying invoices from suppliers and vouchers paying scholarships to students. This position will serve as backup to other accounting team members and be responsible for any additional duties assigned. Candidates should apply who enjoy working in a team environment and have a great attention to detail. A good understanding of Excel will be very beneficial to candidates applying for this position. A high degree of accounting skill, organization, flexibility, multi-tasking, and professionalism are qualities desired for this role.


 

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor's of Science or Bachelor's of Arts Degree and a minimum of 18 hours of accounting coursework.



Skills:




  • Knowledge of Accounting principles, practices, methods, and terminology   

  • Computer skills in MS Office, accounting software and databases   

  • Ability to choose the right mathematical method or formula to solve a problem       

  • Ability to collect and organize accounting data, interpret the significance, and prepare accurate financial reports       

  • Ability to solve accounting and related financial problems     

  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines     

  • Ability to handle stressful situations   

  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, project management and communication skills

  • Sitting for prolonged periods. Manual dexterity. Able to communicate effectively. Standard office environment.
