Job Description
As a Lab Aide, you will perform various laboratory procedures and clerical functions in one or more lab areas.

Responsibilities:
- Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing, transporting, and storing specimens.
- Operates laboratory equipment and performs routine instrument maintenance, trouble shooting and minor repairs.
- Performs clerical duties including answering phones, data entry and filing.
- Performs Quality Assurance activities.
- Maintains adequate stock of supplies; performs inventory management of transporting and distributing supplies.
- Keeps the work area safe and organized
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
Certifications:
- None required.
Complexity of Work:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Work Experience:
- One year lab or clerical experience preferred.
- 3 months on the job training to learn department lab procedures, instrumentation and CCF policies.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely handle potentially infectious patient specimens, carcinogenic substances, odorous and other hazardous materials to which they may be exposed.
- Ability to utilize and operate instrumentation.
- Ability to differentiate color, hue, saturation and tones.
- Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
