Job Description

Summary

Full-time research technician position opening in lab studying mechanisms of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Our lab currently utilizes methods ranging in areas from molecular biology to whole-animal physiology. Training for all techniques and computer programs will be provided. A complete application includes a CV,  the names and email addresses for three professional references and a cover letter. 

Job Duties

  • Works with mice and cell cultures as research models.
  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments, such as genotyping, cell culture, RT-PCR, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, western blotting, etc.
  • Documents results accurately of all the experiments.
  • Compiles and analyzes data.
  • Oversees the maintenance of laboratory environment and supplies.
  • Maintains mouse colonies, and performs experiments on mice.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science degree is a plus. 
  • Solid background of knowledge in the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, nutrition, and physiology.
  • Laboratory experience is desirable. 
  • Knowledge of research methods and procedures.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in work schedule.
