Job Description:
The Sacred Heart University Department of Biology invites applications from qualified candidates for appointment to a tenure-track position in the field of Ecology and Evolution at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in the Fall Academic 2023-2024 Year. The department seeks a broadly trained ecologist with expertise and research interests in invertebrate or plant biology and its applications to terrestrial or aquatic ecosystems. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching in both major and non-major courses and possess a strong appreciation for the mission of the University and its student-centered focus. The successful candidate must also be able to develop a scholarly research program that engages undergraduates.

In addition to teaching courses in the candidate's area of specialization, the faculty member filling this position will play a major role in teaching Ecology & Evolution lecture and labs, and will be responsible for transporting students to and from field sites. Other teaching responsibilities might include courses in animal or environmental biology, as well as introductory biology and courses in the University core curriculum.


Requirements:
PhD in Biology or a related field required (ABD considered).
Significant teaching or post-doctoral experiences preferred.
