Job Description

Position Overview
The Law Library Technical Services Supervisor manages print and electronic acquisitions in conjunction with the Collection Management and Reference Librarian; creates and maintains records for print and electronic resources; supervises and trains the Technical Services Technician; responds to law faculty, staff and patron questions about print and electronic collections; manages book and paper recycling within the Law Library; reviews invoices, compiles collection statistics, and maintain related documentation; maintains law faculty scholarship repository; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Responsibilities
Key Accountability Manages the overall operations of the Law Library Technical Services unit by:
Job Duties
Maintaining law faculty scholarship repository
Approving invoice vouchers for payment
Cataloging of print and electronic monographic materials as necessary
Creating purchase orders and line items within an online integrated library system
Processing electronic downloads to update online databases
Updating OCLC to correspond with changes to print and electronic collections
Training and providing direct supervision of Technical Services Technician
Processing monograph .pdf files for access by staff and librarians
Working with Main Library on shared catalog or proxy issues
Working with Law Library Public Services unit and the Collection Management and Reference Librarian to remove outdated materials and other large weeding projects
Key Accountability Contributes to Law Library Administrative/Faculty Operations by:
Job Duties
Collecting, maintaining, and reporting library statistics through ALLStAR
Advising Law Library Director and Collection Management and Reference Librarian on print or electronic publication problems
Staying current on technology changes/issues concerning the Law Library’s online integrated library system
Selecting and working with appropriate vendors
Key Accountability Contributes to Law Library general operations by:
Job Duties
Monitoring book recycling and contacting facilities when necessary
Monitoring loose-leaf/paper recycling and working with library staff to ensure it goes to recycling center
Working with library and other university staff as needed for other projects
Position Qualifications
Required Experience
4 years of experience working in library technical services
1 year of supervisory experience
Experience interpreting and reporting budgets/expenditures
Required Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Licensures, Certifications or other
Additional Preferred
Experience with Alma/Primo system
Experience in library terminology; using and applying bibliographic and other library information sources in print and electronic format; using a bibliographic utility or in-house automated library system to perform acquisitions and cataloging work; compiling and analyzing information and writing a summary in a work setting
Experience in an academic library environment
Physical Requirements
Some lifting, reaching, stretching, pushing, and pulling
Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move 50 pounds
