This will be addressed by generation of strong data packages from target hypotheses derived from academic outreach and initiatives. You will be an essential member of this team and creatively design and execute key experiments to address the basic and translational biology of novel drug targets, their molecular pathways, and their connection to human disease.

The Scientist, Viral Vaccines will be the lead scientist for the production of SARS-CoV-2 Viruses under BSL-3 and BSL-2 conditions, as well as leading the generation of all Certificates of Characterization for Influenza, RSV, SARS-CoV-2, PIV1, PIV3, HMPV A, HMPV B, and HCMV. With your deep knowledge in the discipline, you will be an active team member who influences at the project team level. You will be using your scientific judgment to adapt standard methods and techniques by applying prior work experience and consulting others. Your ability to plan will help in preparing short-term work activities on projects. Your creativity in developing novel processes and new ideas will be used frequently. You will undertake mentoring activities to guide your team members. It is your innovative scientific temperament that will help in making Pfizer ready to achieve new milestones and help patients across the globe

How You Will Achieve It
Coordinate virus characterization with groups or individuals providing sequencing, virus titers, qPCR and adventitious agent testing data.

Primary contact for all viruses being disbursed to the clinical testing and preclinical testing groups.

Ensure that all viruses are produced, stored and inventories in a GMP and GLP compliant manner.

Lead the transfer of virus culture scale-up methods to Early Bioprocess Development.

Lead the CRISS system for Viral Vaccines and be responsible for all virus disbursements to all internal and external groups.

Contribute to achievement of goals of the team and influence at the work group/project team level.

Apply technical skills and functional knowledge to projects/ assignments within own work group/ project team independently and proactively.

Coordinate large scale virus cultures

Generate certificates of characterization

Collaborate with EBPD to ensure that virus production methodologies are transferred efficiently.

Prepare and present experimental results to project teams.

Comply with all safety training and good laboratory practices.

Qualifications
Must-Have
Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering or relevant field of science and 6+ years of relevant experience, or Masters Degree and 4+ years of relevant experience

Experience in cell culture, virus culture and virus characterization

Experience in operations and compliance in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting

Strong background in immunology, microbiology and virology

Ability to work across different scientific disciplines (research, clinical testing, manufacturing and regulatory affairs)

Ability to use appropriate software to perform analysis of data

Excellent organization and planning skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or as part of a team, strong motivation with a dedicated work ethic

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice-to-Have
Experience in operations, compliance, regulatory affairs and logistics

Experience in generating documents in a compliant setting
