Job Description

Summary

This position directs strategic efforts and leads implementation for pre-award grant activities for the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Cancer Center. This includes high level planning, execution, and management of all grant related activities for the Cancer Center. The main goal of this position is to provide direct management to the pre-award team structure for the Cancer Center.  This position will be housed in Pediatric Hem/Onc and supports all Cancer Center Faculty. Primary coordination and management of all grant related submissions under the Center Director and the pre-award OUA and program infrastructure.

  • Directs the day-to-day operations for the pre-award Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Cancer Center.
  • Supervises support staff and helps them resolve problems and concerns and ensures that the work is completed according to standard operating procedures.
  • Develops and disseminates up to date standard operating procedures for administrative support services and operations.
  • Maintains training materials for departmental support staff related to grant and contract submission.
  • Ensures that guidance to investigators is maintained, updated and communicated routinely and non-routinely as needed.
  • Ensures quality customer service delivery from pre-Award Cancer Center staff.
  • Engages in pre- and/or post- award grant management activities.
  • Provides financial management and accountability, including developing budgets, monitoring budget and grant expenditures, reconciling accounts, financial reporting, and ensuring federal and institutional accounting standards are met.
  • Establishes and implements quality assurance and quality control measures/oversight and ensures adherence to College policies and regulatory standards.
  • Recruits, trains, and supervises research administrative staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.  Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Four years of relevant experience. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with managing large scale grants and overseeing grant teams.
