The Ball State University Office of Student Financial Services and Systems is seeking a Financial Wellness Advisor.

Position Function: The successful candidate will work with the Director of Student Financial Services to provide financial wellness information to students and their families to support their goal of budgeting and paying for college. The services the Financial Wellness Advisor provide include one-on-one financial counseling sessions with BSU targeted student population and their families, presentations; and workshops to educate students and parents on issues relating to personal finance. Adherence to inclusive excellence training for diversity and equal opportunity for all students. The Financial Wellness analyst is responsible for analyzing and pulling reports to identify target population while generating lists of students in financial risk, in addition to coaching students on developing plans of actions to fund their education and to achieve and maintain financial stability.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, education, accounting, finance or related area. At least one year of financial experience in a financial institution or university setting with project management experience.
Minimum Other: Microsoft Office experience; effective written and verbal communication skills; negotiating, counseling and problem solving skills. Strong organizational and customer service skills. Ability and willingness to travel to meet in need and targeted students within the community mostly on campus or within the surrounding counties. Ability to participate in speaking engagements at local and public schools. Ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends, as needed. Must have valid driver’s license and be eligible for insurability under the university’s auto fleet policy.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in the financial wellness field or credit counseling or education. Experience in a university setting; additional years of experience in accounting, banking, cashiering, or related experience. Experience working with target population of first generation students; also familiarity with low- and moderate – income students and their families. Demonstrated knowledge of effective financial counseling and coaching methods. Demonstrated ability to facilitate financial workshops and training. Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Ability to work within a culturally diverse fast-paced environment. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Ellucian (Banner) ERP system experience, CASHNet, Argos and other report writing skills preferred.

The salary range for this position is: $45,000 – $50,000 based on experience
