Job Description

Summary

The Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery is seeking a Registered Nurse II to provide quality patient care in a fast-paced, dynamic, ambulatory environment.  The RN II will positively contribute to the patients' experience by coordinating care for surgical patients, requiring direct, compassionate verbal and written communication skills. The RN II will also educate, mentor, and serve as a role model for other clinical team members. 

 

Job Duties

• Utilize clinical judgment and operational knowledge to improve 'Live Answer' telephone triage program to ensure patients receive appropriate level of care and first call resolution.
• Collaborate with nurses, medical assistants, and clinical/administrative support staff by directing, guiding, and leading by example of professional behavior.
• Participate in orientation and on-boarding of new clinical staff, help develop departmental standardized orientation process, timeline, and benchmarks.
• Independently perform service recovery when necessary, demonstrate independent ability to seek out internal and central resources.
• Contribute to clinical operations process improvement and quality improvement initiatives both within the department and for the College as opportunity presents.
• Serve as EMR (Epic) Super User to keep department workflows and processes current.
• Volunteer to participate in departmental committee to collaborate with other team members such as DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), employee engagement, business development, or communications/social media development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Two years of relevant experience as a licensed Registered Nurse (RN). Degrees in lieu of experience will not be accepted.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Epic EMR experience.
