Job Description

The Field Experience Coordinator processes and coordinates all field experiences, communicating and collaborating with faculty, staff, students, and school corporations.

Minimum Education:

Associate's degree or equivalent.

Minimum Experience:

Over one through three years of office or related experience; excellent communication skills.

Preferred Experience:

Additional years of related experience; related experience working in a public school; supervisory experience; higher education administration experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and process field experiences at all levels. This includes, but is not limited to; creating digital contracts, coordinating placement requests, and obtaining transcripts; maintaining the Tk20/database and Excel databases; obtaining public school schedules; contacting students regarding placement changes; working with Muncie Community Schools Administration, PDS liaisons, BSU staff, and area schools to fulfill all field experience requests.
  • Process all denied field experience and student teaching placement requests. This includes the submission of all required documentation to a second school based on office policy; update database to reflect changes.
  • Process assignment changes approved by the Student Teacher Appeal Committee, university supervisor, and/or the Director of Teacher Education Services and Clinical Practice. Provide written notification of all changes to mentor teachers, principals, superintendents, students, and university supervisors as needed.
  • Provide direct communication with students, principals, superintendents, mentor teachers, and university supervisors on the field experience process; conduct follow-up based on predetermined schedule.
  • Coordinate and confirm criminal background and EDURisk training checks for all early field placements each semester according to the TC background check policy and designated school administrative personnel.
  • Use Tk20/Excel/database to provide data for weekly, quarterly, and annual reports on field placements, payment of honorariums to mentor teachers, and other reporting needs as approved by the Director of OTES-CP.
  • Participate in student teaching application meetings, introduction to student teaching workshops, student teaching orientation, PDS liaison placement meetings, early field experience meetings, and meetings pertaining to Germany, Aldine, and IU Global Gateway.
  • Field questions and troubleshoot problems related to course registration for students and enter all electronic permissions for student teachers.
  • In collaboration with the OTES-CP Office Coordinator, hire, train, assign work to and supervise student employees and graduate assistants.
  • Provide support related to field experiences for university supervisors, OTES-CP Assistant Director, and the OTES-CP Director.
  • Assist Tk20/database administrator in updating database to reflect changes in field experiences, placements, or school policies.
  • Work in collaboration with the Director and Assistant Director of OTES-CP during the entire Field Experience Process. This includes, but is not limited to, attend regular meetings and provide status updates through the use of communication templates.
  • Advise and communicate with students and faculty in regard to the field experience process.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
