The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, instructional academic staff position at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science. The position will start on August 28, 2023.
The Department of Exercise and Sport Science is seeking an instructional staff member to teach in the Clinical Exercise Physiology (graduate) and Exercise Science (undergraduate) programs. The position requires expertise in clinical exercise physiology and clinical education of graduate students. This individual will also serve as Executive Director of LEHP (La Crosse Exercise and Health Program), providing management and leadership to a community program developed for clinical education of students. Additional background in exercise science laboratories is desirable. Fieldwork is included in this position. There will be department, college, and other university service and the individual will be required to conduct academic advising.
Under general supervision of Department Chair, a person in this position is responsible for teaching undergraduate courses. In addition to preparing for and holding classes [face-to-face, hybrid], teaching involves maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students’ work, assessing student outcomes, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours. In addition, workload may involve advising students and/or providing other service to the department. Other duties may be assigned by the Department Chair or Dean.

The candidate must have an earned Master degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology or closely related field by the start date of the position.
The candidate must have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (if not current, candidate will be expected to recertify their first year) and either American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Clinical Exercise Specialist (CES) or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) certification.
A minimum of one year of experience in a clinical setting is preferred
One year or more of experience in a clinical setting working with cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation.
Experience in CEP working with patients with various health conditions.
Leadership experience in a CEP program.
