Job Description

Identifies, diagnoses and treats patients with a wide variety of disabilities. Conducts clinical and administrative functions in absence of coordinator/supervisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes and documents patient treatment sessions and documentation effectively.
  • Coordinates schedule to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency.
  • Demonstrates effective clinical judgment in implementing patient specific plans of care and treatment.
  • Reviews and revises goals in an appropriate, timely manner.
  • Assesses and provides appropriate patient and family education and materials, considering any special needs and/or limitations.
  • Validates and documents patient and family understanding of teaching.
  • Participates in professional self-development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university.

Certifications:

  • Licensed by the current State of Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy an Athletic Trainer's Board.
  • Certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association.

Complexity of Work:

  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum three years of experience as an Occupational Therapist.

Physical Requirements:

  • OSHA Requirements: All employees are required to know and demonstrate competency in all OSHA requirements for the position such as the use of personal protective barrier equipment, safety equipment and procedures, handling of hazardous materials, etc.
  • Physical Requirements: Performance of job duties requires sitting, standing and walking at varying intervals throughout the 8-hour shift.
  • Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) Considerations: All employees are required to be aware of all MSDS considerations for this position which identifies all items in their particular area that fall into this category. Each employee will be educated regarding the location of their department's MSDS manual.
  • Blood-borne Pathogen Exposure: This position falls within one of the following Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Categories (check appropriate description): Category I - Employees whose routine and/or daily duties, tasks or procedures always expose them to blood and other potentially infectious materials. Category II - Employees whose routine and/or daily duties, tasks or procedures occasionally expose them to blood and other potentially infectious materials. Category III - Employees whose routine and/or daily duties, tasks or procedures never expose them to blood and other potentially infectious materials. Employees will be educate regarding their positions Blood-borne Pathogen Exposure Category to ensure employee competency in identifying and handling any exposures.

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
