Position Summary:

The Scientific Development Program Manager provides comprehensive program and project management for administrative activities fostering robust scientific research collaborations as part of the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) administrative team. This position is responsible for contributing towards the successful non-competing and competing renewal of this award to support Moffitt’s prestigious status as a National Cancer Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. In collaboration with the CCSG administrative team, this position oversees Moffitt’s CCSG Membership Program, facilitates select CCSG leadership committees, supports CCSG data reporting needs, and collaboratively oversees processes, improvements, and reporting to key internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal Scientific Development Program Manager possesses:

  • Extensive experience providing comprehensive program and project management with evidence of completing projects on time and within resources

  

Responsibilities: 

The incumbent’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working collaboratively with the Manager, Office of Scientific Development to project manage non-competing and competing renewal CCSG applications
  • Collaborating with leadership to manage site visit preparations as part of the competing renewal
  • Compiling, analyzing, and reporting CCSG and other institutional data as assigned to internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate preparations and facilitate select CCSG leadership committees including the Scientific Leadership Committee, Membership Committee, and External Advisory Committee
  • Provide senior level project management for annual External Advisory Committee internal preparations
  • Work collaboratively with CCSG administrative team to develop, prioritize, operationalize, and tract CCSG specific strategic plans and objectives
  • Partner with research leadership and faculty to provide comprehensive management as appropriate for scientific working groups and institutional grant proposals addressing strategic research priorities of the Center

  

Credentials and Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, journalism, communications, natural or social sciences or other related field required
  • Five (5) years of experience in program planning, project management, technical writing or administration required
  • Preferred certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Knowledge of and experience with project management tools strongly preferred
  • Experience in an academic or cancer center setting strongly preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc) required
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills with attention to detail required
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills required
  • Exceptional skills in critical, creative, and independent thoughts and actions required
  • Exceptional professionalism in working across all organizational levels required
