Ball State University’s School of Music invites applications for a one-year Assistant Teaching Professor position of Music (Generalist with Expertise in Organ) beginning August 2023.

The School of Music has approximately 350 undergraduate majors, approximately 100 graduate students, and more than 70 artist-teachers. We are known for our wide and varied performance programs and our national leadership in music education. We offer courses in six distinct areas for highly talented and motivated students who have the opportunity to perform in enriching and award-winning ensembles and to work with internationally renowned guest artists.

Salary and benefit packages for this position are competitive, with salaries for this opportunity beginning at $50,000 annually.

Position Function:
Teaching load to include
• Foundational levels of course work for the School of Music curricula, including MUHI 100, MUST 102, 111, 311.
• Managing the recruitment and maintenance of the applied organ studio, including instructing applied music lessons in organ at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
• Maintaining a national profile in performance and professional service
• Performing as a soloist and in faculty ensembles as needed
• Advancing students in academic matters
• Assisting students in job and graduate school placement.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution by date of appointment and a documented history of professional activity in the area of assignment.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:
Terminal degree and a documented history of professional activity in the area of assignment. Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain quality students on the collegiate level, exceptional creative/scholarly background.
