Summary
The Research Technician II position in Gene Vector Core. The Core provides services related to viral vectors to academic and non-academic investigators. The technician interacts with Core customers. Performs complex, responsible research work of an advanced nature requiring high-level skills and expertise, uses own initiative and completes advanced medical or research experiments under general directions from the principal investigator.

Job Duties
- Plans, directs and conducts vector production and research experiments.
- Evaluates and analyzes data.
- Develops research techniques and performs applications required for specific research projects.
- Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
- Assists in the progress report and grant preparation.
- Documents results of experiments and report to principal investigators.
- Supervises, schedules, and coordinates the activities of less experienced research staff.
- Maintains HPLC, and perform HPLC analysis for viral vectors.
- Maintains viral vector inventory.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with molecular biology, cell culture, and HPLC is a plus.
- Knowledge of biology, chemistry, and physics is desirable.
- Has good communication and organization skills.
