Exciting Microbiology Laboratory Opportunity: Laboratory Technical Assistant

As a Laboratory Technical Assistant, you will be responsible for requisitioning, plating, and processing incoming microbiology specimens. You will also play a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the assigned section, including washing and sterilizing glassware. In addition to these tasks, you will provide valuable support across various Microbiology functions and collaborate with the Clinical Pathology department team. Reporting to the Microbiology Supervisor, this role contributes to our mission of delivering high-quality healthcare.
As a successful candidate, you will:
- Process clinical specimens following established procedures and protocols.
- Prepare stains and smears of clinical material.
- Enter orders received from physicians into department computer program.
- Receive supplies and distribute them to the appropriate area within the laboratory.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of various aspects of processing specimens.
- Prioritize work and provide prompt and efficient service.
- Cooperate with other personnel to achieve department and interdepartmental objectives and maintain good employee relations.
Your qualifications should include:
- High School
- One year patient contact experience in a hospital setting

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $21.33 - $32.00 / hour
The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
