Position Summary

Responsible for various duties related to maintaining an accurate system of record for supplies and ensuring the highest levels of customer support when these supplies are requested by the COH end users. Performs safe and timely transportation of patients and equipment within the hospital. Performs materials receiving and replenishment workflows in accordance with established policy and processes. Supports mail and package deliveries within the hospital.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Performs PAR replenishments for medical and surgical supplies in Clinical and OR areas
  • Responsible for all sterile processing, log books, supplies and following all Policies and Procedures for this area
  • Maintains inventory including stocking of shelves and proper rotation of items within the supply storage areas.
  • Uses City of Hope’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and handheld devices to perform real-time inventory transactions
  • Performs inventory management activities such as cycle counts, expiration tracking and dispositioning of supplies, cleaning of storage bins, maintaining correct labeling and barcoding of supply storage locations, tissue and implant tracking, delivering ad hoc supply requests to departments
  • Works with Purchasing and Vendors to obtain technical information, specifications, understand backorder risks, determine substitute material availability, create supply requisitions, perform Purchase Order receipts, create returns to vendors (RTVs) when needed
  • Works collaboratively with City of Hope’s Supply Chain Operations team at the National Medical Center to optimize the use of supplies and storage
  • As requested, transport patients to and from various ancillary departments and nursing units.
  • Use EPIC command center for transportation accepting requests using Rover device
  • Assists with lifts and turns or patients repositioning assists patients in and out of cars
  • Supports data entry for reports and metrics, and process improvement activities to drive continuous improvement
  • Set up orthopedic frames
  • Maintains inventory levels of patient care equipment in departments as well as pick up and cleaning equipment
  • Transports supplies, medical records, x-rays, equipment, specimens, mail, reports, and other materials.
  • May be responsible for ordering, replacing, and transporting full and used medical gas cylinders.
  • Assures that all supply items are accurately charged to the departments as per replenished quantities
  • Maintains PAR levels on crash carts and disaster cart on a scheduled basis, as well as, after each use.
  • Responsible for accurate assembly of intubation trays as well as other trays and kits.
  • Assists with receipts of packages and equipment at the central receiving area
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

  • High School or GED, undergraduate degree preferred
  • 2 years of experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Operational Supply Chain related roles preferably in a health care setting
  • CPR.
  • Must have valid driver’s license with a clear driving record and
  • valid car insurance

Preferred education experience and skills:

  • Understanding of Materials Management and Supply Chain practices

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
