POSITION SUMMARY:

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Florida is recruiting a full-time faculty physician for the Division of Gynecologic Oncology. The physician will join three established GYN Oncology faculty, who provide comprehensive care in an active and growing division.

Successful candidates for these positions are expected to have an established record of accomplishment of academic productivity. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with experience, qualifications, and sources of external funding. For appointments at the level of Associate or Full Professor, preference is given to individuals with an established research program and/or grant portfolio transferrable to USF. Participation in graduate and/or medical student education and mentoring is also expected. The Morsani College of Medicine offers institutional salary support commensurate with experience and external sources of funding, competitive start-up packages, dry and wet laboratory space, excellent core facilities, and a collegial atmosphere to create an environment that promotes success.

The Gynecological Oncology program at USF has three full time gynecologic oncologists who provide patient care through the Tampa General Hospital Cancer Center. USF and Tampa Genera Hospital host one of the busiest heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) programs in the U.S. Other areas of clinical strength include cancer genetics and the implementation of personalized cancer care. The division has robust research programs focused on understanding key drivers responsible for uterine and ovarian cancers with an eye towards developing novel therapeutic targets. Understanding uterine leiomyosarcoma has been a particular area of interest and members of the division participate in NIH's Clinical Proteomics Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC) and serve as a member of the Executive Committee for the OneFlorida Clinical Research Consortium. A unique aspect of the USF program is the full integration of palliative care and symptom management into women's cancer care. Clinical activities are complemented by opportunities in basic/translational research, and clinical trials. Faculty also have the opportunity to participate in medical education and statewide perinatal quality collaborative initiatives. Our faculty work extensively with other departments, centers, and institutes across all three USF campuses and actively collaborate with faculty in the Colleges of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing and Florida Department of Health. The OB/GYN Department houses fellowship programs in Gynecological Oncology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Maternal Fetal Medicine and Female Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery. The robust OB/GYN residency program is comprised of 24 residents. Our primary affiliate, Tampa General Hospital (TGH), is a 1000 bed quaternary care center.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

CLINICAL - Provide Gynecologic Oncology care including ambulatory care at USF Physicians Group locations and TGH.
TEACH - Teach residents and fellows by lecture, rounds, and clinical activity in patient office and operation room.
RESEARCH - To do scholarly research involving prospective clinical studies, retrospective chart reviews and literature searchers.
ADMINISTRATION - General administration duties that include documenting and reviewing patient charts.
Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

Doctoral/Medical degree from an accredited institution and board-eligible/certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology- Gynecological Oncology.
Candidates will have successfully completed a Gynecological Oncology fellowship. Must have completed Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology with an interest in teaching and patient care.
Must have or be eligible for a Florida Medical License.
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
For Associate or Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
