ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Department of Medical Education (DME) in the Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM) is headed by Dr. Bryan Bognar, Chair & Vice Dean for Educational Affairs. Dr. Bognar is responsible for the oversight of the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) program and Graduate programs curriculum, all MCOM student services (Student Affairs, Admissions, Student Diversity, the Experiential Learning Center), the School of Physical Therapy, the Athletic Training Education Program, and the Physician Assistant program. The Chair/Vice Dean also works collaboratively with Graduate Medical Education (GME), Continuing Professional Development, and the Deans for the
College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing and College of Public Health to advance the education mission across the MCOM and USF Health. DME (including the MCOM student services) currently consists of 10 faculty members and ~ 50 administrators / staff members. The primary clients for DME are the medical students, DPT students, PA students, the doctoral, post-doc / masters students, and the faculty / staff educators for the medical and graduate program curriculum. The department interacts with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and healthcare providers across USF Health, USF, and other institutions.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Research, Innovation & Scholarly Endeavors (RISE) office acts as a centralized resource to promote and support students and their faculty mentors engaged in research, scholarship, innovation and creative endeavors. RISE provides high yield resources for research success, offering a centralized curriculum for doing scholarly projects, working on skill sets such as study design, IRB, effective library searches, EBM, biostatistics, oral presentation skills etc. along with opportunities to showcase scholarly accomplishments and networking opportunities.

The RISE Academic Services Administrator (ASA) position plays a critical role in the administration of the RISE office. It guides and supports students and faculty who are involved the Scholarly Concentrations Program, SELECT program, and individual medical students. The ASA will assist with daily operations and will assist with planning and execution of strategies designed to strengthen USF MCOMs scholarly endeavors. Duties include guidance of students, conceptualizing, executing and overseeing curricular programs, and providing academic support to leadership and faculty mentors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide support for medical students and faculty interested in research and scholarship at MCOM. Serve as a central resource for the collection and distribution of research and scholarly opportunities. Promote a centralized curriculum on various research skills. Promote the Robert A. Honor Society.

Assist with the coordination and administration of student research programs and initiatives, including research fellowships, conferences, and other scholarly opportunities. Maintain program records and documentation, including application materials, award decisions, and participant information.

Provide information and guidance to students regarding research opportunities, policies, and procedures. Assist students with completing research registration paperwork and obtaining necessary approvals. Process applications for summer research awards. Respond to student inquiries and troubleshoot any issues they may encounter.

Assist with maintenance of the RISE calendar and scheduling of meetings and appointments. Maintain filing systems and ensure accurate record keeping. Prepare reports and presentations as needed.

Responsible for managing the RISE Canvas page ensuring that all information is current and making edits when necessary.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

This position requires a Masters degree in education or a filed of study related to the academic program, or a Bachelors degree in those same fields with a minimum of two years of experience.

SB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly related experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly related experience may substitute for a master's degree.

PREFERRED:

Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience, 2 years of professional experience, and experience working in a collegiate setting.

Special Skills:

Proficient experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
