Job Description

Summary

The Research Administration Associate will support the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics with pre-award and post award grant administration. This role will include developing grant budgets and assisting with progress reports, sub-awards, and various other compliances. Knowledge of BCM and federal and state grant policies and procedures is critical.

 

Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay.

 

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

Job Duties

  • Review and approve grant proposal submissions and other items (progress reports, no-cost extensions, carry-forward requests, etc.) via BRAIN to Sponsored Programs Office
  • Provide guidance to administrative staff and faculty on grant proposal submission corrections and revisions
  • Research and provide sponsored program expertise by interpreting sponsor guidelines (Uniform Guidance) for federal and state agencies and private foundations, such as NIH and Keck Foundation
  • Responsible for pre-award grants management
    • Develop budgets, budget justifications, grant proposal submission, etc
    • Ensure faculty and grants are research compliant under IACUC, COI, RCR, etc. regulations
    • Review cost distributions of faculty and lab staff to ensure personnel effort are appropriately sourced on sponsored programs
  • Responsible for post award grants management
    • Prepare and submit financial reports, progress reports, prior-approvals, no cost extensions, carryforwards, effort, compliance, etc.
  • Train junior administrative staff in pre-award and post award grants management

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.  Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

  • Must have strong background in grant management, pre and post award
  • Ability to multi-task excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a deadline environment
