Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Positions and connects leads from electrocardiograph machine to electrodes on specified body areas.
- Reviews patients record and instructs patients prior to procedures.
- Monitors patient during procedures and reports any abnormal findings.
- Identifies and corrects for wandering, interference, and artifacts.
- Edits and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
- Maintains EKG equipment and supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Paramedic or Medical Assistant Program preferred.
Certifications:
- None required.
Complexity of Work:
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of six months experience related to direct patient care or customer service preferably in a hospital setting required.
- Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Paramedic or Medical Assistant Program may offset experience requirement.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical strength to assist patients into position for testing.
- Physical strength to transport equipment to various locations throughout the Cleveland Clinic facility.
- Extensive walking and standing.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
