ROLE SUMMARY

As part of Pfizer Oncology, this individual will report directly to the US Senior Director/Team Lead, US Advocacy & Professional RelationsIt will be this person’s role responsibility to establish and maintain strong and lasting relationships with Oncology Patient Organizations and Professional Societies that support our presence across cancer communities. These relationships with oncology Patient Advocacy & Professional Associations will align with business goals that are not normally attainable through traditional business channels via:  

 

  • Developing and implementing initiatives that provide value-add potential for key stakeholders that position Pfizer Oncology as a credible, trusted, and relevant partner. 

  • Advancing partnerships over time with patient and professional organizations to help deliver insights and leadership for emerging disease areas within the Pfizer Oncology portfolio. 

  • Interactions with key stakeholders that demonstrate an ability to meet customer needs with a balanced commitment to Pfizer Oncology’s business objectives. 

  • Positioning Pfizer as a leader in oncology community and advancing patient centricity by creating thoughtful partnerships and a compelling vision to outside organizations that generates respect resulting in a competitive advantage for our Pfizer Oncology.  

  • Exhibit strong relationship skills and be able to foster and communicate the Advocacy & Professional Relations vision, mission, and remit to cross-functional Pfizer teams. 

  • Provide Patient Advocacy and Professional Relations content and expertise to commercial colleagues during the Strategic Planning process, as well as a part of product launch operational excellence processes. 

  • Continue to build the cross functional model that our Advocacy & Professional Relations team fosters by collaborating with internal and external key stakeholders to successfully achieve Pfizer’s objectives to serve patients and find new answers to unmet medical challenges and unmet patient needs. 

 

Ultimately, this individual will bring focus, expertise, and prioritized action resulting in Pfizer Oncology being the partner of choice in the cancer community. 

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain expertise on forces driving national oncology patient and professional organizations. 

  • Understand market trends and unmet patient needs in oncology. 

  • Maintain expertise in oncology and health equity across established and evolving areas of interest. 

  • Translate understanding of these dynamics into strategic imperatives with: 

  • The Oncology Patient Solutions & Alliances Group (OPSA) which includes A&PR, Field Reimbursement Managers, This is Living with Cancer, and Pfizer Oncology Together 

  • Cross functional Pfizer teams including GU commercial, US Medical Affairs, US Field Medical, Marketing, Oncology Medical Strategy Management, Operational Analytics & Clinical Trial Experience, Key Account Team, National Account Team, etc. 

  • Pfizer Oncology Leadership 

  • Pfizer Oncology Patient Centricity Ecosystem (POPCE) 

  • Directly engage in a partnership with the public affairs and policy oncology team regarding communication of activities and partnerships within the cancer community  

  • Elevate and empower the patient voice through collaborative partnerships with patient advocacy and professional partners, as well as internally at Pfizer 

  • Collaborate with Patient Advocacy and Professional partners to co-create resources addressing unmet patient needs and scale distribution through external partners and Pfizer to place health information at people’s fingertips 

  • Directly engage with internal and external partners to close the equity gap for patients with a focus on issues related to access medicines and healthcareWork closely with Team Lead to coordinate knowledge distribution across therapeutic areas and Pfizer 

  • Directly manage relationships with national cancer patient advocacy and professional organizations currently managed in the Advocacy & Professional Relations team. 

  • Identify the select "critical few" priorities and mobilize robust cross-functional work streams requiring leadership across Marketing, Sales, Key Account Management, Public Affairs/Policy, Global Patient Advocacy, Medical, and others. 

 

Experience / Skills: 

This colleague will possess & apply a thorough understanding of the oncology product portfolio, each customer’s aligned business priorities and how both are being impacted by oncology market evolution to develop effective advocacy and professional organization engagement strategies and tactics.   

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree is required; advanced degree such as MBA strongly preferred.  

  • Account Management, Area Business Manager or similar level experience is preferred. 

  • Minimum of fifteen years plus of pharmaceutical industry experienceExperience in oncology highly preferred 

  • Minimum of 5 years at or above director level role or 8 years at or above senior manager level role (i.e.  account management, marketing, business operations, policy, public affairs) 

  • Minimum of 5 years of advocacy/related experience including external relationship management and partnership with national and regional advocacy and professional partners 

  • Experience working successfully in a matrix environment across multiple functions at Pfizer, including with both US and Global teams. 

  • Significant experience in the oncology marketplace, with an understanding of how to frame complex challenges in an understandable way in a solutions-oriented approach to the organization.  

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

  • Ability to translate strategy and analysis to a tactical, executable level.  

  • Ability to synthesize complex information and distill critical customer driven insights to drive brand performance.  

  • Ability to work effectively in a cross functional and brand team-based environment, partnering with internal and external stakeholders.  

  • Strong project and process management skills.  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  

  • Ability to work on multiple projects and prioritize/multi-task effectively.  

  • Strong Communicator, ability to represent Pfizer as #1 patient centric company to internal and external audiences. 

  • Understanding and real-world examples of successful collaborations with advocacy organizations 

  • Prior work and/or participation in and OPSA mentorship program 

  • Understanding of our Pfizer Oncology Patient Centricity Ecosystem and awareness of key  PAGs involved 

  • Understanding of Pfizer Global Advocacy Policy & Patient Engagement Lead Model   

 

Other Requirements 

  • Broad understanding of Pfizer’s Oncology Business and priorities, as well as existing relationships with oncology commercial partners 

  • Exhibit strong collaboration/relationship-building skills and ability to engage across multiple functions at a senior leadership level. 

  • Experienced in communicating and interacting with external stakeholders over time. 

  • Professional maturity and presence with advanced written and verbal communication skills

  • Proximity to NYHQ preferred. 

  • Travel required (40-50%)

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $173,300.00 to $288,800.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
