Job Function:
Provide support to the Principal Investigator using a multidisciplinary approach to study glucose metabolism in transgenic and knockout mice.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a biological science from an accredited institution by date of appointment.
Preferred Education:
Master's degree in a biological science.
Minimum Experience:
Experience working in a laboratory.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with mouse husbandry, mouse behavior, microscopy; additional years of related experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and train undergraduate and graduate students.
- Apply the following techniques in the laboratory: polymerase chain reaction; tissue and fluid metabolite measurements; Western blotting; mouse husbandry; histology; electron and confocal microscopy; mouse behavioral analysis; enzyme activity measurements.
- Collect data; maintain accurate laboratory notebook and other records.
- Order supplies; monitor inventory of mice, reagents, and disposables; cleaning instruments and glassware; maintain laboratory instruments.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
