ROLE SUMMARY

The Senior Director, CMO, Business Operations (DBO) will lead comprehensive business support to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), working to maximize the performance and impact of Pfizer Marketing on a global scale. This role will anticipate, identify, understand, engage in, and support effective prioritization of issues and opportunities across the business and ensure resolution and implementation in a timely and effective manner. As a member of the CMO LT, the DBO will provide operational support for the Chief Marketing Officer to enhance organizational efficiency, goal clarity and alignment of activities between the Chief Marketing Officer and his key internal and external stakeholders.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the CMO, LT and CMO Transformation office to guide business performance and financial management for highly complex activities within the organization.
  • Guide alignment of the CMO’s calendar and daily activities to the most pressing priorities, as well as operations of the office of the CMO, market/site visits, thought leadership and industry events.
  • Accountable for the efficient governance of key meetings and communication from the Chief Marketing Officer’s office. This includes attendee management; decision-oriented meeting agendas; capture, tracking and follow-up of action items and working with the appropriate colleague(s) to ensure seamless planning and logistics. 
  • Help address and coordinate resolution of requests from various Pfizer stakeholders, e.g., ELT, Biopharma LT members, Board members, etc.
  • Serve as a key connector with the many agency stakeholders and other external parties requiring Chief Marketing Officer attention.
  • Partner cross-functionally with enabling internal functions and networks, while also partnering externally, as needed, to deliver insights and initiatives.
  • Drive the support of all ELT, CEO and/or Board needs, quarterly ELT and Commercial reports, Earnings activities and adhoc requests, through proactive info gathering and presentation prep, relentlessly ensuring quality and timely submissions.
  • Activate the Office of the CMO in building a strong culture and driving commercial and CMO agendas, Pfizer’s purpose and values through partnerships with People Experience and others ensuring optimal understanding and uptake across the organization. This includes strategic participation such as an annual communications plan, Huddles, blogs, recognition, survey action planning, etc.
  • Proactively ensure alignment within the business, participating on or leading special projects, leveraging an extensive network to seek out and apply learnings for greater efficiency or faster impact and ensuring effective use of resources by maximizing the use of matrixed and enabling function teams.
  • Enhance the effectiveness of the CMO by proactively taking on work and adding value in ways such as preparation and review of presentations, briefing documents, speaker prep, triaging and responding to questions and requests, organizing and prioritizing materials for review, etc.
  • Represent the Chief Marketing Officer as requested in meetings with others in the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred
  • At least 15 years experience; Broad knowledge of the marketing, pharmaceutical industry and healthcare environment and experience in commercial and marketing roles is preferred
  • Ability to maintain focus and thrive in fast-paced, high intensity environment
  • Familiarity with strategic and operating planning processes
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and mastery of working in a matrixed organization
  • Must be able to both drive strategy and execute with speed and high quality
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills and strategic mindset

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $191,300.00 to $318,800.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
