Job Profile Summary

Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing outreach activities that promote Broward UP Commercial Driving License (CDL) initiatives and programs.

The Commercial Driving License (CDL) program at Broward College provides full scholarships to all participants and seeks to focus on recruiting, preparing, mentoring, and graduating individuals with Commercial A or B driving licenses in accordance with all Florida Department of Transportation’s requirements and regulations

  

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.

Minimum Experience/Training:

Four years of related/relevant experience, preferably in student recruiting/admissions. Experience in establishing and managing work experience programs such as internships, mentoring, job shadowing, etc. Bilingual preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Daily - 30%: Coordinates and facilitates outreach for recruitment purposes to community agencies, businesses, high schools, community schools, GED Centers, etc. Responsible for prospective student follow-up and communication to inform of program scholarship criteria and resolve potential barriers.
  • Daily - 20%: Assists staff with engaging student prospects and applicants through the enrollment process. Processes applications by: (A) confirming that the necessary scholarship criteria has been met (B) scheduling all interview appointments and coordinates the places and times with the scholarship candidates and notifies all candidates of the award decisions
  • Daily - 20%: Monitors academic progress of scholarship recipients and maintains files and records of financial disbursements to comply with Financial Aid regulations. Provides counseling to facilitate the uninterrupted progress through the respective health science program and refers students to the financial aid representative if necessary. Notifies Financial Aid of the amounts of awards and term distribution. Assists the Program Director with special projects and other college programs and events as needed.
  • Daily - 20%: Develops, coordinates and executes seminars, workshops, and events to communicate scholarship information to prospective students. Coordinates with Director to design recruitment and marketing materials. Ensuring that all program information adheres to college policies and state statues.
  • Monthly - 5%: Maintains accurate data for reports and informed decision-making as well as produce reports as needed
  • Weekly - 5%: Performs other duties as assigned by Program Director and/or Broward College.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge of college programs and procedures regarding admission, advisement, registration and financial aid.
  • Fully proficient in professional and functional standards and protocols of position.
  • General understanding of College's structure, policies and practices, and the impact on own area. 
  • Knowledge of Federal and State laws. Expertise in understanding and following project plans, including the coordination of multiple resources and activities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records.
  • Ability to utilize database tracking systems.,
  • Ability to exchange information with individuals and collaborate with colleagues within the College as well as strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of computerized systems and operating environment (i.e. Microsoft Office Products and specialized computer systems).
  • Ability to interact and effectively communicate with a diverse employee, student population.
  • Possesses excellent organizational, time management, and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with higher education enrollment management principles.
  • Possesses effective communication skills both orally and in writing.
