Hourly Rate: $24.04

This is a temporary Research Assistant for a position for a study focusing on HIV vulnerability and HIV testing for African American young adults in Louisville, Kentucky. The employee will work in the lab of Dr. Jelani Kerr in the Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences Department at the University of Louisville.  Responsibilities may include data collection and analysis, tracking and retention of research participants, database management, performing community outreach, participant recruitment, and other duties as assigned.   

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • BS in Public Health or related field. 

  • Prior experience conducting research in community-based settings.

  • Doctoral level training in health promotion and health education

  • Training and experience conducting community-engaged research

  • Previous research experience with young adults from socially marginalized backgrounds

  • Experience leading both qualitative and quantitative HIV-focused research

  • Training and experience conducting analysis of qualitative and quantitative data sets.

  • Experience with survey administration processes including consent, payment, and audio computer assisted / computer assisted self-interviews

  • Experience conducting research with returning citizens

  • Training and experience with health promotion and delivery of health promotion programming

  • History of publishing in peer-reviewed journals

  • Knowledge and experience on translating research results to lay communities in accessible formats

  • Experience tracking and retaining participants for survey data collection

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
