Qualifications:
Molecular Biology lecture and corresponding lab (BIOL 313/313L) are an introduction to the structure and function of the genetic apparatus. This course is a study of what genes are and how they operate, and includes recent discoveries in the areas of DNA, RNA and protein synthesis in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Laboratory includes both discussion and practice of techniques used in genetic engineering.
This course and lab will be taught in person on the Moraga campus during the 2025 Fall term as follows:
Lecture (3 units) - Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:40 - 11:30 am
Lab (3.5 units) - Mondays from 1:30 - 5:30 pm
In addition to teaching, the instructor is expected to hold regular office hours (a minimum of one hour per week for the lecture and the lab) in order to provide students with support outside of the classroom.
The successful candidate will hold an advanced degree in a relevant area of Biology, Molecular Biology strongly preferred, and a successful record of teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Preference will be given to those who have previously taught the course and lab (BIOL 313/313L), or BIOL 137/137L.
Candidates must reside in California.
The salary range for this position is $16,135 - $22,334 (6.5 units) and is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
