Job Summary:Financial Analyst
The Financial Analyst is responsible for completing detailed financial analysis to assist departments and senior leaders with budget development, forecasting and new initiatives. The position assists in the development and implementation of processes and tools to administer and increasingly automate financial reporting. The Financial Analyst participates in process improvement efforts with various departments to assist with streamlining operations and maximizing efficiency when possible.
Senior Financial Analyst
The Sr. Financial Analyst is responsible for completing detailed financial analysis to assist departments and senior leaders with budget development, forecasting and new initiatives. The position assists in the development and implementation of processes and tools to administer and increasingly automate financial reporting. The Sr. Financial Analyst participates in process improvement efforts with various departments to assist with streamlining operations and maximizing efficiency when possible. The Sr. Financial Analyst also serves as a mentor to the Financial Analyst. This position works very closely with senior leadership to accomplish the institution’s business and operational objectives.
Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:
Financial Analyst
· Prepares, analyzes, and summarizes timely and accurate financial and statistical reports for senior leaders, including but not limited to the areas of finance, planning, and strategy.
· Prepares and delivers a wide variety of materials, presentations, and tools including business plans, financial pro forma, needs assessments, and other reports for UT Tyler leadership.
· Takes initiative in solving operational and business problems and proposes opportunities for improvement, growth, or change.
· Reviews and analyzes existing programs in order to provide recommendations to health affairs leadership and ensure alignment with the institution’s overall strategy.
· Assists with the identification and implementation of enhancements to financial and analytics processes and procedures, requiring a combination of existing and acquired proficiency with PeopleSoft Financials, PeopleSoft Human Capital and Management System, Microsoft Office Suite, and similar systems.
· Assists leadership with the preparation of financial pro formas.
· Analyzes a variety of financial, budgetary, productivity, and statistical information for the physician practice and professionally summarizes results in charts, graphs, and reports, applying judgment to determine data points of interest to the given audience.
· Examines historical and projected financial data to provide senior management with valuable data upon which to make relevant financial decisions.
· Examines financial and operational issues and potential impacts that arise and identifies and proposes solutions to address these issues.
· Performs ad hoc financial analysis, revenue and cost estimates, and forecasts in support of institutional strategies and decisions.
· Reviews monthly Ardent invoices for accuracy and reasonableness and communicates any issues to Manager of Business Affairs.
· Creates monthly Clinical Pharmacy Agreement invoice for review by VP Operations of Health Affairs and submission to Accounting and UTHET Management.
· Assists with creation and submission of eForms and cost center reconciliations if needed.
· Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
· Other duties as assigned.
Senior Financial Analyst

· Retrieves Peoplesoft data to assist with the monthly creation of the Smith County Jail invoice and reporting package. Performs quarterly billing reconciliation for Smith County Jail contract.
· Provides project management support, including project plan development, integrated support and workstream management, progress monitoring and reporting, and execution support, through the use of tools, templates, and principles for planning.
· Supports financial systems implementations and upgrades in collaboration with both functional and IT specialists through efficient project management.
· Analyzes a variety of financial, budgetary, productivity, and statistical information and professionally summarizes results in charts, graphs, and reports, applying judgment to determine data points of interest to the given audience.
· Serves as a mentor to the Financial Analyst position as needed.
· Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

· Ability to apply financial analysis and fiscal planning techniques in a university academic, healthcare, and research setting.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with administration, faculty, and staff.
· Ability to evaluate processes and assess systems to develop and implement new strategies, in consultation with financial and operational leaders.
· Ability to present ideas and effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, throughout all levels of the organization, including senior leadership, and in a variety of delivery formats.
· Ability to work on cross functional projects, multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
· Demonstrated expertise in the use of financial systems and a proficiency in the use, advancement, and application of technology and ability to gain proficiency with financial, budgetary, and productivity systems specific to the institution.
· Demonstrated professionalism, sensitivity, and discretion in handling confidential information.
· Intermediate or above proficiency with Microsoft Office products, primarily with Excel, must have demonstrated quantitative skills.
· Knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting principles, systems, procedures, and standards.
· Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
Qualifications
Required Education / Experience:
Financial Analyst
Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, management, or related field is required. Master’s degree preferred.
Three (3) years of experience in a combination of financial analysis, accounting, financial operations, and/or systems.
May accept a combination of education and experience.
