Job Summary:

The M-Powering Teacher Coaching Project Manager will be joining the organization and supporting the Math Teaching and Teacher Learning team. In particular, the Project Manager will work across the multiple grant-funded research projects and fee-for-service contracts.

The Math Teaching and Teacher Learning team provides math-specific professional development to teachers and coaches to help improve math instruction. Our current grant-funded projects seek to develop and test an expanded math-specific coach training program that uses machine-learning automated feedback. This person will be joining a team with faculty lead, Dr. Heather Hill, and collaborators at research partner institutions. The Project Manager’s primary responsibilities will include management of the M-Powering Teacher Coaching (MPT) intervention. They will be expected to do so with a high level of independence and autonomy. This person will be essential to the growth of the Math Teaching and Teacher Learning program, in our ability to develop innovative content, produce relevant research, and provide evidence-based math coaching.Â

Job Specific Responsibilities:

Manage coach recruitment and hiring (10%)
-ÂÂÂÂDevelop a recruitment plan to hire additional M-Powering Teacher (MPT) Coaches
-ÂÂÂÂFacilitate the interview process
-ÂÂÂÂPropose hiring decisionsÂ
-ÂÂÂÂFacilitate coach hiring through HGSE and third-party vendor; serving as a liaison between coaches and       ÂHR/IT officesÂ
-ÂÂÂÂMonitor paymentsÂ
-ÂÂÂÂStrategize and execute plans for retaining a pool of high-quality and diverse coaches
-ÂÂÂÂDetermine and facilitate any terminations and/or extensions for renewal

Lead coach training and oversight (65%)
-ÂÂÂÂPlan, develop, and implement trainings for new and returning MPT Coaches
-ÂÂÂÂCustomize training materials given district context
-ÂÂÂÂMaintain coach resource site on Canvas
-ÂÂÂÂMonitor completion of MPT coaching conversations
-ÂÂÂÂHire, train, and supervise graduate students on MPT Coaching projects
-ÂÂÂÂLead oversight of MPT coaching conversations to inform content for coach support and webinars
-ÂÂÂÂProvide ongoing support to coaches via group webinars and individualized feedbackÂ
-ÂÂÂÂMaintain frequent communication with coaches to ensure coordination with the district and partnersÂ
-ÂÂÂÂUpdate coaching materials based on feedback from key stakeholders and observations from coaching        Âconversations
-ÂÂÂÂDirectly coach teachers using the M-Powering Teacher Coaching model
-ÂÂÂÂExpand the video library of MPT Coaching excerptsÂ

Support larger research project efforts (15%)
-ÂÂÂÂIn collaboration with research and district partners, contribute to teacher recruitment (e.g. devising a plan      Âand timeline, providing materials, facilitating in person or virtual presentations)
-ÂÂÂÂContribute to regular check-ins with collaborators – district and IHE partners
-ÂÂÂÂCoordinate with research partners at IHE to streamline processes and communication across site coordinators, teachers, coaches, district administration, and project staff

Manage further development of MPT Coaching (10%)
-ÂÂÂÂProvide regular feedback on M-Powering Teachers app development based on coach and teacher feedback
-ÂÂÂÂContribute to development of additional Natural Language Processing (NLP) measures, in collaboration with   ÂPI Heather Hill
-ÂÂÂÂSupport Senior Manager to adapt the coaching model to accommodate new NLP measures, new research    Âdesigns, and service needs
-ÂÂÂÂDevelop additional coach training materials to align with further development, expansion, and research.
-ÂÂÂÂCollaborate with MQI Coaching Project Manager to expand the video library of classroom instruction,         Âparticularly around Illustrative Mathematics and other HQIM

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

-ÂÂÂÂBachelor’s degree plus three years of experience coaching mathematics teachers and classroom teaching,      Âand/or working in a research-practice partnership and classroom teachingÂ
-ÂÂÂÂDemonstrated experience with computer software and hardware, including MS Office, PowerPoint, & Excel      Ârequired
-Â Â Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
-ÂÂÂÂMust be very attentive to detail and able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.Â
-ÂÂÂÂAbility to work both independently and collaboratively with multiple partners and cross-function teams
-ÂÂÂÂExperience facilitating adult learning preferred
-ÂÂÂÂExperience with M-Powering Teachers, M-Powering Teachers Coaching, and/or MQI Coaching preferredÂÂ
Additional Qualifications and Skills:

-ÂÂÂÂDegree in mathematics, or hard science and/or education preferred
-ÂÂÂÂPrefer experience working with mathematics teachers and/or coaches in a school or research setting
-ÂÂÂÂExperience with Quickbase, Panopto, Qualtrics, Canvas, video editing software, Zoom, and project            Âmanagement platforms (e.g. Asana) are plusesÂ
-ÂÂÂÂMasters degree preferred as is experience working in a social science research setting at either a University or   ÂResearch firm

Work Format Details

This position is eligible for 100% remote work. Employees may work from any of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). At the discretion of the hiring department, fully remote employees may occasionally be required on-site at a Harvard location. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location.
