Job SummaryThe Research Support Technician (RST) or Sr. RST is a member of a highly specialized team of engineers and technicians that assists with the construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of the teaching and research laboratories infrastructure at the Gaerttner LINAC Center.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in electrical, electronics, mechanical technology or related field
One (1) year of applied work experience to include:
Experience with electrical/electronic measurements using common meters and instrumentation
Experience using common hand & power tools for construction and plumbing
Applicants must meet stated minimum education and experience requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Operation of general machine shop tools including, drill press, milling machines, band saw,
and metal lathe
Computer Aided Design (CAD) & Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM)
Computer Programming; LabVIEW, C++, Python, Java, and Arduino for Control Systems
PC troubleshooting and Windows/Linux setup and deployment
Performing vacuum system maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Understanding of electricity; AC & DC voltage, current, power, and impedance
Understanding of computer Systems and software; PCs with Microsoft Windows 10, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
Ability to assemble, test, and repair basic electronic circuits employing prototype boards and printed circuit boards
Ability to assemble pre-engineered basic mechanical assemblies
Ability to perform basic vacuum system maintenance such as leak testing, identification, and repair
Working knowledge of general safety including radiation safety
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Planning, organizing and effective time management skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
